01. BACKGROUND //
Fourth Industrial Revolution Incubator (“4IRI”) is an SMME Incubation Centre. 4IRI is partnered with SEDA (Small Enterprise Development Agency) to provide incubation services to SMMEs in the connectivity, cybersecurity, fintech and Insuretech sectors.
Primarily, the incubator was founded to provide development support services to SMME’s involved in strategic economic sectors. We are an enabling platform for SMMEs that advance technological solutions that are truly impactful.
This initiative ties in with the national imperative to increase the economic activity of the country through SMMEs development and create sustainable employment.
02. INCUBATION PROGRAMME AND ITS BENEFITS
Incubation programme is a three-year programme whereby SMME’s will receive the following services:
- Business Development Program
- Facilitation of access to funding
- Accounting/Bookkeeping
- Regular visits by Business Development Officer to ensure progress
- Trainings on specific skills needed by the SMME
- Technical advise
- Product modelling and prototyping
- Access to markets
- Linkages to industry experts
- Marketing
- Access to key business information
- Networking platforms
- Soft landing opportunities
03. ELIGIBLE CRITERIA AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR CYBERSECURITY, FINTECH & INSURTECH
To participate in this programme, SMME’s need to submit a completed application form. The applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Technology based Companies with disruptive solutions in the market whom are ready to expand.
- Companies with a sound business case.
- Companies with solutions or products with the potential to uplift the society.
- Companies with solutions that speak to the social and economic challenges of Africa.
- Companies with solutions or products that are globally relevant and impactful.
- Companies that focus on technology relevant to the 4th industrial revolution.
- Had a revenue of at least R500 000.00 in the past year.
- The Directors of the company must be prepared to sign a three (3) year incubation agreement with 4IRI.
- Business owners must be South African citizens
04. ELIGIBLE CRITERIA AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR CONNECTIVITY SMMEs
To participate in this programme, SMME’s need to submit a completed application form. The applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Reasonable number of resources
- Sound revenue and a good geographic coverage
- Existing or planned certifications
- Alignment, in terms of values, partnership goals and opportunities
- Connectivity focus area/sectors
- Proper proposed pipeline and opportunities
- Technology based Companies with disruptive solutions in the market whom are ready to expand.
- Companies with a sound business case.
- Companies with solutions or products with the potential to uplift the society.
- Companies with solutions that speak to the social and economic challenges of Africa.
- Companies with solutions or products that are globally relevant and impactful.
- Had a revenue of at least R500 000.00 in the past year.

05. CANDIDATES NEED TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER IN THE AFFIRMATIVE THE FOLLOWING
- Does the product solve a real problem?
- Is the solution novel and protectable (IP)?
- Is it difficult for someone else to do this?
- Do you have a probable end user / buyer for this product?
- Are you the right person to develop this technology in this industry?
- Do you have the right team in place, or can you get the right team?
